Dec 31 The Last Century You'll Ever Do… this year!

WHEN: Tuesday, December 31, 2013 8:00am

DESCRIPTION: On Tuesday, December 31, 2011, a number of riders are planning to end the year with a relatively flat century, launching from Carmel Valley Road in Del Mar at 8:00 A.M. and proceeding north up the coast through Camp Pendleton and on to Dana Point and back. We will likely stop in Oceanside and San Clemente for refueling on the way up the coast and will likely stop in Oceanside on the return trip as well. The ride will be 100 miles with approximately 2,500 vertical feet of climbing. The plan is to be back in Del Mar around 3:00 P.M. Because the ride is an out-and-back course, riders can easily shorten the ride to meet their time and distance preferences. If you plan to join us for the ride, BE SURE TO BRING YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE in order to pass through the Camp Pendleton gates.  NOTE: The ride will begin on Carmel Valley Road about 0.20 miles east of PCH. There is plenty of free on–road parking on both sides of Carmel Valley Road. I hope you can join us for an epic year-end century.

In years past, we have stopped for lunch at the turn around near Dana Point. Bring lunch money or plan to mooch off someone.

ROUTE: Up the coast, then back. 100 miles, flat. Sorry, no gps file for this one.
